Cellulite Supplements
Dr. Murad, Author of "The Cellulite Solution" gives a breakdown of supplments that we must take to help us get rid of Cellulite. This is a great book to read to better understand what causes Cellulite and just how we can get rid of it. I broke this down for you from what he says to take. Just make sure you check with your Dr. before starting any vitamin/supplement plan.
1.) Glusocamine: 1,000-2,000 mg daily. This is to support your connective tissue and it helps to attract water to the tissue to keep you hydrated.
2.) Amino Acids- They repair collagen and Elastin in the blood vessels. Which will help heal one of the causes of Cellulite (weak connective tissue) and will also help prevent spider veins. When we eat protein it breaks down into amino acids for our bodies to use. Out of 20 amino acids, we can only make 11. The rest have to be gotten from food or supplementation. These are called essential amino acids. Dr. Murad recommends that you get them from beans, whole grains, fruits, veggie or Goji berries. He recommends a diet of plant foods and tofu. Omega 3 rich fish and skinless white meat poultry.
3.) EFA's Essential Fatty Acids 2000 mg. of Fish Oil or the vegetarian alternative is 4- 1,000 mg. caps of flaxseed oil PLUS 100-300 mg of microalgae- derived DHA supplement. Repairing the connective tissue is needed to repair the cellulite. EFA's attract the water needed to reinforce the blood vessels. EFA's are found in various nuts, seeds, ground flaxseed as well as cold water fish. Also, cut out all trans fats and margarines and replace with good unsaturated fats (in moderation) such as fish, canola oil and olive oil.
4.) B vitamins and Trace Minerals are needed to help us metabolize the glucosamine, amino acids and EFA's to repair the connective tissue. Dr Murad's recommendations are:
Thiamine B1 1.5 mg
Riboflavin B2 1.7mg
Niacin B3 20mg
Pantothenic Acid B5 10mg
Pyridoxinw B6 2mg
Cabalamin B12 6mcg
Folic Acid 400mcg
Biotin 300mcg
Minerals:
Magnesium 400mg
Iron * 18 mg ( if you are post menopausal choose an iron free multivit)
Zinc 15 mg
Copper 2mg
Manganese 2mg
Iodine 150 mcg
Chromium 120 mcg
Molybdenum 75 mcg
Selenium 70 mcg
All of the above are just 100% of the DV requirements. A good multivitamin should have these in them and as far as the minerals, if you can't get all of them in a Multivit then you can find liquids that would have all the required.
5.) Antioxidants Vitamin C, E, A. The building blocks of youth. Vitamin C is in citrus fruits, E is in whole grains and nuts and A is in carrots and other orange or yellow fruits and veggies.
6.) Lecithin and Lipids Dr. Murad says " Crumbling cell walls are made up of Lecithin and lipids." Lecithin is found in egg yolks and soy. If you do not want to eat these things that you can supplement with 2,000-4,000 mg of soy lecithin granules.
