Recently I read an article in Women's World Natural Health and it gave a step by step plan on how to "switch on your weight loss hormones". In my weight loss battle that I have been fighting for years, I am starting to dig deeper and realize that we have turned off our ability to lose weight.
I had spoke to a Dr in California and he told me that if you are under stress and producing cortisol, you will not lose weight. That was the first time I had ever heard of that nasty hormone and I realize that that IS the thing that we should all be looking to control.
I am going to do some more research and will report my findings later.
But until then....here is some additional info that might be able to help us get started.
Flip The Switch...
1.) An Australian study suggests:Cut back on carbs and add 4 oz of meat. Protein rich foods will cause your body to make more leptin, which is the hormone that shuts down that big voice inside you saying " FEED ME COOKIES".
2.) Scientists at Utah State University suggests: Cut Cortisol! We should eat one heaping cup of some sort of citrus. It will clam your adrenal glands which will suppress their production of cortisol. Remember cortisol is the evil hormone that's only job in life is to make belly fat. It is NOT your friend!
3.) Canadian Researchers suggest: Up your serotonin! They discovered that by eating 1/4 cup of dried fruits when we get the munchies, it will cut our caloric intake for hours. Eat them on an empty stomach and they will give you a quick spike in your blood sugar which in turn will tell your body to make more serotonin. Many of us eat because it makes us feel better. Well, that is because of the serotonin. But Dried fruit will give us the same benefits without the calories that a chocolate cupcake would have.(which we all know that is what we really would want to be eating)
4.) University of Tennessee's Michael Zemet PhD suggesst: Avoid Insulin Surges! Researchers tell us that by adding 4 servings of dairy, you can lose 61% more body fat.Dr Zemet explains that the calcium and amino acids in dairy will lower your pancreas' production of insulin.
